Study The Word Continually

Well, where did the summer go? Here we are celebrating Labor Day, and summer is gone. Schools are open, vacations are past and it is time to get back to the business of disciplined learning. Well, that’s the perspective from the mind of a school aged child at least. In reality, we know life doesn’t follow that calendar.

There is no summer vacation, especially when it comes to the Word of God. The truth is we only hurt ourselves and those we love when we decide to take a vacation, or a leave of absence, from disciplined study of God’s word.

The Scripture challenges us to Study the Word continually. It calls on us to work hard at it in order to be an approved servant of the Lord.

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. ~ 2 Timothy 2:15 NLT

Why not take advantage of the moment? As the new school year begins, why not set aside a daily family time of study in Scripture. It doesn’t have to be burdensome, pick a book of the Bible and read some of it together, then talk about how what you have read applies to the life of your family.

I recall a sign one of my college professors had on his door.  READ - TRY IT YOU’LL LIKE IT!
The rewards your family will reap make every effort worthwhile.
